Abstract

The Mid-Atlantic Microbiome Meet-up (M3) organization held its fourth meeting on January 10, 2018 in College Park, Maryland. M3 brings together academic, government, and industry groups in the broadly-defined mid-Atlantic region to share ideas and develop best practices for microbiome research. The meeting focused on recent advances in biodefense and pathogen detection and identified critical gaps in our knowledge of these areas. This report summarizes the presentations and discussions at the meeting and outlines the long-term goals for future research and progress.
