Abstract

This report provides an overview of the responses to a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the U.S. Center for AI Standards and Innovation (CAISI) on the state of artificial intelligence (AI) agent security. Commenters were asked for input on the security threats facing AI agents, practices for mitigating and assessing those threats, and support the government could offer to facilitate secure adoption. Commenters widely agreed that AI agents present novel security threats and that these security concerns present a barrier to adoption. There was also widespread agreement that, while fundamental cybersecurity principles and practices remain relevant, they will require adaptation to satisfactorily address agent security. Commenters identified a number of roles for government action, including offering implementation guidance, facilitating information-sharing, and promoting standards.
