Abstract

EVAP-COND is a software package that contains simulation models for a finned-tube evaporator and condenser. The modeling scheme allows for specifying complex refrigerant circuits, modeling refrigerant distribution between these circuits, and accounting for non-uniform air distribution. The package includes an evolutionary computation module for optimization of refrigerant circuitry. Simulation results include local refrigerant parameters for each tube such as quality, temperature, enthalpy, entropy, and pressure drop. To speed-up simulations, EVAP-COND installs 23 refrigerant thermophysical properties look-up tables. In addition, a user can generate a look-up table for any blend using a table generation program.
