The 2026 NIST–University Research Summit, hosted by NIST International and Academic Affairs Office (IAAO), will bring together university representatives, faculty, students, and NIST researchers. This two-day event aims to accelerate joint advances in measurement science, standards, and emerging technologies.

Attendees will have the opportunity to showcase technical research projects and innovative methodologies that align with NIST's high-priority research thrusts: topics include communication and networking technologies, semiconductors and microelectronics, artificial intelligence and machine learning, biotechnologies, quantum technologies, and robotics. NIST staff will share insights into future research directions and engage in discussions about research priorities. Simultaneously, university teams will exchange innovative research ideas for potential collaborations, forging new partnerships to advance U.S. leadership in science and technology.

The Summit's interdisciplinary format is designed to foster a vibrant interchange of ideas, equip participants with new partnership concepts, and lay the groundwork for sustained NIST–University research collaborations.
