Abstract
Small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) studies are performed to investigate the stability and geometry of hydrogen-bonded pyrene-filled c-hexylprogallol[4]arene (PgC6-pyrene) nanotubular frameworks. In the solid state, hydrogen-bonded pyrogallol[4]arene tubes are formed. However, scattering data for PgC6-pyrene assemblies in solution are best modeled as spheres of PgC6 with no pyrene guest. This indicates for the first time rearrangement of hydrogen-bonded tubular framework to hydrogen-bonded dimeric nanocapsules in solution.
