Dr. Lemmon was cited for his contributions to the NIST REFPROP database, which is widely used in the natural gas industry, as well as significant contributions to several natural gas standards developed by ISO, the American Gas Association, and the Gas Processors Association that specify thermodynamic properties. The press release for the award lists Eric’s “least-greatest accomplishment [as his] failed attempt to get the natural gas community to switch to SI units.” The award was presented at the May 2023 meeting of the ISHM in Oklahoma City.
Dr. Eric Lemmon of the NIST Material Measurement Laboratory Applied Chemicals and Materials Division Thermophysical Properties of Fluids Group at the NIST Boulder, CO campus has been named the 2023 recipient of the Laurance S. Reid Award of the International School of Hydrocarbon Measurement (ISHM) in recognition of “contributions to the measurement and/or control of hydrocarbon fluids.” ISHM is concerned with the measurement, control, and handling of both gaseous and liquid hydrocarbons and provides measurement instruction for personnel in the industry.
