Abstract
Microstructural and tensile test data are becoming increasingly available and important in additive manufacturing (AM). These data can be used as inputs to a variety of data-analytics tools, outputs from which can be used to ensure the part's quality and accelerate the qualification process. Microstructure data includes measurements of material structures, properties, and tensile tests can be used to identify fractures and stress-strain relationships. A major impediment to correlating these two types of data is that they are obtained in two different local coordinate systems. To establish the required process-material-property relationships, these data must be aligned with build data. The build data includes build commands and in-process measurements, and they are both in their own, separate, local coordinate systems. This paper proposes a data-registration procedure to correlate and organize these different types of data from measurement and tests.
