Abstract
This chapter summarizes the occurrence and fate on HNPs in the arctic physical environment and accumulation processes and presence in arctic biota. Except for halocarbons, there have been few investigations of HNPs in polar environments. Discussions of HNP formation processes and occurrence in temperate oceans are included to provide context. Information on HNPs is presented by compound class and generally in order of increasing molecular weight, as most information on lower molecular weight compounds relates to air/water media while higher molecular weight compounds are generally reported in biota.Citation
