Abstract
As the popularity and technical capability of Augmented Reality (AR) technology continues to grow, public safety R&D community seeks opportunities to create AR products for first responders. Ultimately, widespread acceptance and adoption of AR technologies depend on if they undoubtedly facilitate first responders' success in their missions. User-centered design and evaluation is imperative in assuring that first responders' goals and needs are at the center of AR technology developed for their use. Accomplishing this requires a usability evaluation framework including a method for choosing usability metrics by utilizing first responder task flow diagrams, an AR test environment, and a usability test console to facilitate data collection.
