The group is recognized for making outstanding technical contributions and providing critical standards development leadership that resulted in new, innovative information standards for food manufacturing. The new information modeling technology and software tools developed by NIST are key technical enablers for the exchange of food manufacturing information required to ensure food safety. The new standard is being used by U.S. food producers to improve quality control and to achieve the level of food manufacturing systems integration required by food safety regulations.
