Dr. Jeffrey Schwartz is an associate research scientist at the University of Maryland, College Park and a guest research associate at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). He earned his B.S. degree in physics from the University of Texas at Dallas, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in physics from the University of California, Los Angeles. Afterward, Dr. Schwartz worked as a design engineer at Intel Corp., as a post-doctoral researcher at NIST, and as a National Research Council fellow at the Laboratory for Physical Sciences.
Dr. Schwartz’s research focuses on the characterization, modification, and use of novel low-dimensional materials in advanced electronic and photonic devices, as well as the use of artificially intelligent tools for laboratory automation and data analyses. His other research interests and expertise include scanning probe microscopy, nanoscale spectroscopy, molecular self-assembly, and computational modeling of nanoscale systems.
