NICE has launched the Apprenticeship Subgroup, a new public working group within the charter of the NICE Working Group. Girish Seshagiri and Jennifer Carlson will be the inaugural co-leaders for this group. The new subgroup is dedicated to building a public-private dialogue on the topic of cybersecurity apprenticeships. Girish is the co-founder of an employer-led secure software development dual model apprenticeship initiative called CICESS which is currently launched in Peoria, IL and San Antonio, TX.. Jennifer’s organization, Apprenti, is a 501 c3 that helps industry and educators build apprenticeship programs in a variety of sectors and locations, including cybersecurity. Their shared knowledge and experience will be useful as we endeavor to foster a robust dialogue on this important topic.

This subgroup is appropriate for anyone who is interested in learning more about how apprenticeships work in white-collar occupations; to understand the role of Federal, State and Local government in assisting and approving an apprenticeship; where there are existing programs; what the steps are to build a cybersecurity apprenticeship program; curriculum resources and education partners; the role of an intermediary; and much more.

The Apprenticeship Subgroup’s first scheduled monthly meeting will be held on April 27, 2018.
