The Smiths Detection 6046si cabinet x-ray system was designed for security screening of bags, parcels and other objects of similar size. The system runs at 160 kV uses multi-energy methods to achieve materials discrimination. The system comprises a conveyor that moves the object of interest through the tunnel where the image is generated by a fan beam of x-rays that are incident onto a line detector. The system is used as part of standards development activities and studies related to the threat detection performance of human operators and automatic threat detection algorithms.
