Serena Martinez is a Support Services Specialist in the Engineering Laboratory Data, Security, Technology Group (ELDST) of the Engineering Laboratory (EL), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Serena wears many hats in ELDST and enjoys providing customer service to EL, Administrative Management support to the ELDST Team, Property Custodian Support, Ticket queue management, vulnerbility remediation, procurement activities and a Government Purchase Card holder.
Prior to joining NIST, Serena was employed at the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) located at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Ms. Martinez served as the Acting Administrative Officer in the Visual Information Directorate (BUMED) for nine years supporting all aspects of Visual Information: video productions, medical graphics, and medical photography in support of the Navy's medical and dental requirements.
Serena came to NIST in 2016, under the Director’s Office, in the Program Coordination Office, where she was an Administrative Assistant. In 2017, she was offered a position with OISM as the Secretary to the Chief Information Officer. In 2019, she was promoted to a position with the Engineering Lab as a Support Services Specialist. She is now an Undergrad Student majoring in Cybersecurity Technology.
Serena has two teens and two fur babies, she enjoys outdoor activities, reading, gym classes and painting.
