Mary Bedner (Fed)

Senior Standards Advisor, CHIPS R&D Office

Mary Bedner, Ph.D., has been supporting the NIST mission for over 26 years. Dr. Bedner currently serves as the senior standards advisor in the CHIPS R&D office. In this role, she works with the semiconductor standards sector toward achieving the vision of the CHIPS R&D program for a vibrant microelectronics standards ecosystem that is smarter, faster, and more inclusive and agile in enabling innovation. Prior to her current role, Mary was a research chemist in the NIST Material Measurement Laboratory. She is an experienced metrologist who produced science and standards addressing a range of environmental, nutritional, forensic, and clinical chemistry measurement challenges. She also served as a scientific advisor and a policy analyst developing strategies to advance new technical directions and to improve mission support functions at NIST. Her achievements have been recognized with the NIST Allen V. Astin Measurement Science Award, two Department of Commerce Bronze Medals, and the NIST Safety Award.
