Abstract
Polymer semiconductors (conjugated polymers) open up new opportunities for devices and applications that could not be imagined with conventional silicon technology. Polymer semiconductors have much lower fabrication costs and can be deposited on flexible substrates. Charge carrier mobility is one of the key parameters that determine the performance of polymer devices. This chapter reviews the fundamental investigations of the charge transport and morphology of conjugated polymers. The results are used to develop a model for relating charge transport and structure that can be used as a guide for the development of new, improved chemical structures and processing strategies.Citation
