Dr. Shao is recognized for his outstanding achievement in leading the development of a new standard for digital twins for manufacturing. Connecting the digital and physical worlds, a digital twin is a dynamic digital representation of a physical object or system, providing enhanced decision-making and predictive capabilities. The new standard, ISO 23247 Digital Twin Framework for Manufacturing, guides manufacturers on how to build, manage, and deploy digital twins. Dr. Shao led the technical development and engaged extensively with industry to develop and validate the new standard.
