AWARD CITATION

Dr. Persily is recognized for his leadership in the development and dissemination of ASHRAE Standard 189.1, an international standard that provides total sustainability guidance for designing, building, and operating high-performance green buildings.  Dr. Persily’s body of research in Indoor Air Quality was instrumental in providing technically sound input for ensuring the health and safety of occupants.   Following the  adoption of Standard 189.1, Dr. Persily educated a wide array of stakeholders on its use through talks and presentations.  With Dr. Persily’s involvement, this relatively new standard has gained traction among builders and code officials, with its incorporation into the International Green Construction Code and adoption by numerous jurisdictions.
