Dr. Toby Herman is recognized for delivering outstanding leadership and tireless support to the Thermodynamic Metrology Group's temperature and humidity calibration services and the NIST-on-a-Chip's photonic thermometry commercialization project. Toby spearheaded a colossal ITS-90 calibration lab rebuild project while leading the effort to deliver K9 inter-comparison results, ensuring that the US link to the kelvin remains viable. As part of the CRADA program to commercialize NIST-developed photonic thermometry, he successfully managed researchers from NIST and the commercial partner, balancing competing interests and introducing project management tools to guide the research efforts from one milestone to the next.
