The group is honored for their pioneering research and development of new objective methods to assess image quality in security x-ray systems and for writing a critical replacement to the associated ASTM F792 standard. This standard is used by almost all security agencies around the world to set their acquisition requirements and validate the field performance of these systems. The team's accomplishment replaces the prior subjective assessment of X-ray imaging system performance with standardized methods and validated test objects capable of addressing emerging threats.
