Dr. Ross is recognized for his research and leadership in reducing the risk of cybersecurity threats through the creation of NIST's cybersecurity Risk Management Framework (RMF) and the development of a library of supporting NIST technical standards and technical guidelines. Ross led a multi-year NIST initiative to establish a unified set of cybersecurity standards and guidelines for use by all federal civilian agencies, the Department of Defense, and the Committee on National Security Systems. Ross designed, developed and deployed a coordinated suite of cybersecurity standards, guidelines and best practices used by the United States government and voluntarily adopted by governments and organizations around the world.
