Dr. Zabow is recognized for developing an entirely new class of small, remotely tunable radio-frequency (RF) probes that transmit signals from environments inaccessible to light for use in chemical, biological, medical and engineering research. These biocompatible probes are read using conventional magnetic resonance imaging systems, thus forming the basis for a novel class of “contrast agents” for an all-magnetic equivalent of PET/CT scanning, and providing a new window on localized physiological conditions within the body.
