The team is recognized for leadership, development, and implementation of the NIST Human Subjects Protection Program, the implementation of the NIST Human Subjects Protection Policy, and the development of procedures governing the conduct and review of NIST research involving human subjects or live vertebrate animals. The team created a novel policy and a creative process for the efficient and successful review and approval of research which involves human subjects or live vertebrate animals, leading to a dramatic decrease in approval times, from years to a week or less.
