CyberSecurity Sensei Mentorship Program
Founder

Additional Information

I'm just a li'l old IT/Cyber veteran, striving to assist our future workforce in job acquisition and advancement. I founded the CyberSecurity Sensei mentorship program, which emphasizes a decidedly ethical approach to cyber careers (as a long-time hirer, I'm always concerned that today's "cyber warrior" doesn't have a deep ethical foundation, and could over time become an organization's worst nightmare, i.e. insider threat). Our team emphasizes that members should participate in volunteer work like our Incident Response Team and Cyber Safety speaking to people in their spheres, and a "Think like my CISO" approach within the program. Our conversations focus on cybersecurity from a CISO's perspective, and we discuss issues from the standpoint of Business Risk, Bottom Line, and Lessons Learned. We're a truly unique program, and I'm so very thankful I can help them learn how to "get into their managers' heads". I believe this approach helps them tremendously during their interviews, and gives them a decided advantage. I'm the Western Region Coordinator for the NIST/NICE CyberSecurity Career Ambassador program.Willing to share my journey and help or mentor others learn about cybersecurity career opporunities and pathways.
