Technology Demonstrations at 5x5

Two men participating in a tech demo at 5x5 Chicago

Do you have an innovative, cutting-edge, or emerging technology that has the potential to advance public safety communications?

NIST Public Safety Communications Research Division and the First Responder Network Authority are now accepting proposals for technology demonstrations at 5x5: The Public Safety Innovation Summit. Technology demonstrations enable innovators to showcase everything from prototypes and minimum viable products to established, market-ready solutions for public safety communications.

Submit your technology demonstration proposal by February 7, 2025, to be considered for hosting a demonstration at 5x5.

Why demo at 5x5?

  • Unparalleled collaboration: Take advantage of the unique opportunity for academics, entrepreneurs, first responders, and technologists to come together to push forward public safety communications technology.
  • Innovative insights: Gain novel perspectives, see other cutting-edge demos, and make a real positive change for first responders in the field.
  • Accelerated advancements: Foster new ideas, ask questions, and forge partnerships to catalyze progress in research, development, and deployment of key technology areas.

Tech demos over the years

Over two years, we have welcomed more than 125 hosts into the tech demo hall to collaborate among academics, entrepreneurs, first responders, and technologists to make a real positive change for first responders in the field. Attendees have explored augmented reality for drone operations, experienced extended reality technology, tried on headsets for a virtual reality hazmat demonstration, and observed the seamless interworking of LMR with mission critical devices. In 2024, we kicked off our first outdoor demonstrations showcasing the Chicago Fire command post vehicle and drone kite, connected vehicles, and a mock police pursuit and termination hosted by Oak Brook Police Department.

Submit your tech demo proposal today!

From now until February 7, submit your technology demonstration proposal to be considered for hosting a demo at 5x5. Proposals will be approved on a rolling basis.

Please note that demo hosts are required to register for 5x5 as well as secure their own hotel and travel arrangements. There is no additional cost to host a technology demonstration.

5x5: The Public Safety Innovation Summit will take place at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue on June 3-5, 2025. Let us know you’ll join us: register now.
