Request to Become a Collaborator — Cybersecurity for the Water and Wastewater Sector: A Practical Reference Design for Mitigating Cyber Risk in Water and Wastewater Systems

The National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE) has released the final project description, "Cybersecurity for the Water and Wastewater Sector: A Practical Reference Design for Mitigating Cyber Risk in Water and Wastewater Systems." The NCCoE is

The National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE) has issued a Federal Register Notice (FRN) inviting technology vendors, water/wastewater sector members, and other interested collaborators to participate in the Cybersecurity for the Water and Wastewater Sector: A Practical Reference Design for Mitigating Cyber Risk in Water and Wastewater Systems project.

This project will develop a reference design that demonstrates practical solutions for water and wastewater utilities of all sizes. The reference design will use commercially available products and services to address four cybersecurity challenges: asset management, data integrity, remote access, and network segmentation.

There are two ways to join the NCCoE for this project:

  • Become an NCCoE Collaborator – Collaborators are members of the project team that work alongside the NCCoE staff to build the demonstration by contributing products, services, and technical expertise.
    • Get Started Today – If you are interested in becoming an NCCoE collaborator for the Cybersecurity for the Water and Wastewater Sector: A Practical Reference Design for Mitigating Cyber Risk in Water and Wastewater Systems project, first review the requirements identified in the Federal Register Notice. To become a collaborator, view the final project description and request a Letter of Interest (LOI) template on our project page. You will receive a link to download the LOI template. Complete the LOI template and send it to the project team at water_nccoe [at] nist.gov (water_nccoe[at]nist[dot]gov). Completed LOI submissions are considered on a first-come, first-served basis within each category of security components as listed in the Federal Register Notice.
  • Join our Community of Interest – By joining the Community of Interest (COI), you will receive project updates and the opportunity to share your expertise to help guide this project. Request to join our NCCoE Water/Wastewater Sector COI by visiting our project page.

If you have any questions, please contact our project team at water_nccoe [at] nist.gov (water_nccoe[at]nist[dot]gov).
