Recognizing the Essential Role of National Cybersecurity Education Programs and Achievements

CONGRESS RECOGNIZES JUNE 2023 AS “NATIONAL CYBERSECURITY EDUCATION MONTH"

The Senate of the United States has resolved that June 2023 shall be designated as “National Cybersecurity Education Month”.

According to the Resolution for National Cybersecurity Education Month, during the month of June:

Individuals and organizations are invited to:

  • Recognize the essential role of cybersecurity education
  • Support Federal, State, and local educational efforts

Congress commits to:

  • Raising awareness about cybersecurity education
  • Taking legislative action in support of cybersecurity education to effectively build and sustain a skilled cybersecurity workforce

PRESIDENTIAL CYBERSECURITY EDUCATION AWARD - CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

The Presidential Cybersecurity Education Award honors two K-12 teachers for excellence in cybersecurity education, and the call for nominations is now open! Now in its fourth year, the award is part of a coordinated federal effort to develop and maintain a superior cybersecurity workforce. The U.S. Department of Education recognizes the critical role teachers have in preparing students with the skills needed to fortify our nation’s security and to succeed in the ever-evolving cybersecurity environment.

The nomination period will close on September 15, 2023. Award recipients are selected for their superior accomplishments as teachers, academic achievement indicators, and leadership contributing to the field of cybersecurity. Anyone may nominate a teacher for this honor; self-nominations are also permitted.
