NIST Seeks Nominations for the Industrial Advisory Committee

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking nominations of individuals to the Industrial Advisory Committee (IAC).  The IAC advises the Secretary of Commerce on the science and technology needs of the nation’s domestic microelectronics industry, the national strategy on microelectronics research, the CHIPS research and development programs and other advanced microelectronics activities authorized under Section 9906 of the CHIPS Act, and opportunities for new public-private partnerships to advance the domestic microelectronics industry.

Nominees are sought from stakeholder areas including—but not limited to—industry, federal laboratories, and academic institutions in fields relevant to microelectronics research, development, manufacturing, and policy. Nominees should also have established records of distinguished service in one of these fields.

Members of the committee serve three-year terms and may serve two consecutive terms. The first IAC members were appointed to one-, two-, and three-year terms so that one-third of the membership is reconsidered each year. While nominations can be made at any time, new members are expected to be appointed in October of each year.
