NIST has developed for public review a concept paper for the Artificial Intelligence Risk Management Framework (AI RMF). The paper incorporates input from a NIST Request for Information (RFI) and an October workshop.

Feedback on this paper will inform further development of this approach and the first draft of the AI RMF for public comment. NIST intends to publish that initial draft for public comment in early 2022, as well as hold additional workshops, with the goal of releasing the AI RMF 1.0 in early 2023.

NIST encourages suggestions about this approach as well as specific topics reviewers would like to see included in the framework.

The concept paper is available here. Please send feedback on this paper to AIframework [at] nist.gov (AIframework[at]nist[dot]gov) by January 25, 2022.

Released December 14, 2021
