Eight employees at the National Institute of Standards and Technology have been recognized for outstanding achievements in providing support to the institute's scientific and technical programs. They are:
- Wilma S. Bell, ROCKVILLE, Md., Secretary, Technology Services;
- Hoyt A. Cox, GAITHERSBURG, Md., Audiovisual Equipment Operator, Facilities Services Division;
- Sarah M. Hughes, WASHINGTON, D.C., Custodial Worker, Facilities Services Division;
- Lori Kaun, MT. AIRY, Md., Mail Clerk, Facilities Services Division;
- Sarah M. McNair, EMMITSBURG, Md., Custodial Worker, Facilities Services Division;
- Betty Muse, GERMANTOWN, Md., Electrician, Plant Division;
- Robert L. Osborne, BOYDS, Md., Progressman, Plant Division; and
- Vernon L. Plummer, GERMANTOWN, Md., Equipment Operator, Facilities Services Division.
Each was presented with the Eugene Cason Crittenden Award, which recognizes permanent employees who perform supporting services that have significant impact on technical programs beyond their own offices. The award, established in 1967, is named after a former associate director of NIST who had a special interest in gaining recognition for such contributions.
