Tours for 125 NIST Anniversary - June

Word "NIST" across the middle. Above the NIST: EST. 1901. In a circle around the NIST: CELEBRATING 125 YEARS

Join us for an introduction to NIST and evening visit to one of our laboratories highlighted below. During the registration process, you will need to specify which lab you intend to visit. Given the limited capacity available each day, attendance will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

NIST and the Residential Test Facility

NIST researchers and collaborators designed this unique laboratory with the goal of generating all the energy it would consume during a year. The Residential Test Facility continues to help scientists study how energy-saving technology and controls impact air quality, water quality and essential design considerations in a house.

NIST and Autonomous Vehicles

NIST researchers are currently evaluating the performance of automated vehicles (often referred to as self-driving cars) using on-the-ground, realistic scenarios. These vehicles are complex systems with multiple technologies in play. Despite significant progress, safe and widespread public use of the vehicles is a goal plagued by rare, difficult-to-handle driving conditions.

Join us for an introduction to NIST and evening look under the hood of this mobile research effort.
