2062 Documenting Traceability and Calibration Intervals

This 2-hour webinar covers the essential elements of metrological traceability and the documentary evidence required to support traceability and calibration intervals. It uses NISTIR 6969, GMP 11, and GMP 13 as the baseline for instructions and also covers the policies used by accreditation bodies. This course will also provide preview or review information for similar content covered in the Fundamentals of Metrology seminar.

At the end of (or during) this session, using your notes and ISO/IEC 17025:2017 or NIST Handbook 143, you will be able to:

  • DESCRIBE the essential components that are required to support metrological traceability.
  • EXPLAIN traceability in simple terms to anyone - even someone not familiar with metrology.
  • COMPLETE documentation requirements for traceability and calibration intervals.

Laboratory metrology staff who are new to metrology and would like an overview of the kinds of documents they should have to support evidence of traceability.  This session is also useful for assessors/auditors who need to conduct audits or internal audits to review the kinds of information they should look for to support metrological traceability. The session would also be useful for metrology staff who will be conducting on-the-job-training for new staff members.

Successful Completion includes completing pre- and post-work assignments, full attendance and participation in the session activities and discussion, including the integrated quiz/calculations.

The current registration fee for webinars is $350, and participants will be sent payment instructions when their training request is confirmed. Payment deadline is 30 calendar days before the class. Registration fees for State weights and measures metrologists are funded by NIST OWM.

The webinar will be a live stream, so participants must have a constant connection during the webinar (a hard-wired connection is highly recommended and not a wireless connection).
