Due to a lapse in annual appropriations for the Department of Commerce, NIST conferences have been paused; registration is not available at this time. Please be advised that, due to logistical planning and arrangements, any conference scheduled to occur less than five business days after NIST reopens may be canceled. If the conference is scheduled to occur during the period when normal government operations are paused, the event will not take place. Registrants will receive an update when operations resume. We thank you for your patience and cooperation and apologize for the inconvenience.
This Info Hour will provide attendees with an overview of OWM’s proficiency testing (PT) program, describe how the program operates, and demonstrate the vital role it plays in evaluating the competency and traceability of participating laboratories’ measurement results. As part of this overview, we will discuss updates made to NISTIR 7214, “Quality Manual for Proficiency Testing and Interlaboratory Comparisons,” and NISTIR 7082, “Proficiency Test Policy and Plan,” to bring them into compliance with ISO/IEC 17043 (2023), “Conformity Assessment.” We will conclude our discussion by detailing how PT planning and reporting is executed at the annual Regional Measurement Assurance Program (RMAP) meetings by PT program staff and participating laboratories, and how this underpins the quality management system (QMS) of state weights and measures laboratory programs and offers traceability for regulatory activities.
