This is the annual training session for metrologists from WRAP. The sessions will cover updated proficiency testing software, analysis, planning, and reports, quality tools used in the laboratory, and concepts from the NIST Fundamentals of Metrology seminar (however, it is not a substitute for the full hands-on seminar at NIST but is intended as preparatory or refresher training for laboratory metrologists.) NIST Handbook 143, Section 5.2, Table 2 notes that annual attendance at the RMAP training session is required for ongoing laboratory Recognition for State Weights and Measures laboratories. Handbook 143, Program Handbook details the criteria used for WMD Laboratory Recognition. In addition, participation in ongoing RMAP proficiency tests (PTs) through OWM requires completion of training requirements to the designated level and attendance at the annual RMAP training sessions for all participants.
See 2015 RMAP agenda (http://www.nist.gov/pml/wmd/labmetrology/upload/2015-RMAP-Agenda.pdf).
You will need to bring a 10-digit scientific calculator to use during this seminar. Additionally, use of a laptop or tablet PC is essential to success in the seminar. Participants must have access to Microsoft Excel (versions 2003, 2007 or 2010 are acceptable) and be able to open and use template Excel workbooks that will be provided on either CD-ROM or USB media. Metrologists need to bring an example of a calibration report from their own laboratory or from a supplier to evaluate during several sessions.
Reference USB/CD and notebooks to be provided.
There are no prerequisites for this seminar.
Successful completion requires that participants fully participate in all modules and hands-on exercises.
Regional Measurement Assurance Program "MEMBERS" (State and Industry RMAP member laboratories).
Registration fees for the RMAP training are determined by the local hosts in conjunction with NIST assistance. For additional details, please click here. The OWM Contact System will be used to generate attendee registrations and lists and shared with each host (this will enable tracking, full contact lists, and preparation of attendees lists and training certificates.)
