Workshop on Upcoming Special Publications Supporting FIPS 201-2

The purpose of the workshop is to exchange information on a number of upcoming  new or revised Special Publications to align with FIPS 201-2 issued on September 2013. The workshop is intended to answer questions, and provide clarifications about the SPs. Federal Agencies and industry representatives are invited to discuss these documents and share their observations. Topic areas include:

  • Physical Access Control with the PIV Card
    • Revision of SP 800-116 A Recommendation for the Use of PIV Credentials in Physical Access Control Systems (PACS)
    • PACS performance enhancements and revision of SP 800-96 PIV Card to Reader Interoperability Guidelines
  • PIV Cardholder record inter-agency exchange
    • Introduction to new draft SP 800-156 Representation of PIV Chain-of-Trust for Import and Export
  • PIV, Mobile and Authentication
    • Considerations of additional tokens for future revision of SP 800-157 Guidelines for Derived Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credentials
    • Introduction to SP 800-166 Guidelines for Derived Test Requirement of Derived PIV Credential and its token

Webcast

The event will be webcast live beginning at 8:45am EST on each day. Registration is not required to view the webcast. Questions from webcast participants can be sent to piv_comments [at] nist.gov (piv_comments[at]nist[dot]gov)

Shuttle: There will be a shuttle leaving the Gaithersburg Hilton Tuesday and Wednesday mornings to travel to NIST. The shuttle will return to the hotel at the end of Tuesday and at the conclusion of the meetings on Wednesday. Morning departure times:

  • Tuesday and Wednesday: 8:15am

If you are not registered, you will not be allowed on site. Registered attendees will receive security and campus instructions prior to the workshop.

NON U.S. CITIZENS PLEASE NOTE: All foreign national visitors who do not have permanent resident status and who wish to register for the above meeting must supply additional information. Failure to provide this information prior to arrival will result, at a minimum, insignificant delays (up to 24 hours) in entering the facility. Authority to gather this information is derived from United States Department of Commerce Department Administrative Order (DAO) number 207-12. When registration is open, the required NIST-1260 form will be available as well.
