Charlotte E. Moore was born in eastern Pennsylvania in 1898, the youngest of six children. She went on to study atomic spectroscopy at Princeton with Henry Norris Russell, and later had a distinguished career at the National Bureau of Standards (NBS, now NIST) and the Naval Research Laboratory. Professor Duncan became acquainted with her via a family connection: she was his wife's great aunt. As the scientist in the family, Professor Duncan has obtained her personal records and many family and professional photographs of her throughout the years. This presentation will outline Charlotte E. Moore's esteemed career and will include family and personal details.
