Handbook 130 Packaging and Labeling (5 day) - Canceled

National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Office of Weights and Measures will hold a seminar for State Weights and Measures officials on NIST Handbook 130 "Uniform Packaging and Labeling Regulations (UPLR)" (http://www.nist.gov/pml/wmd/pubs/upload/section-IVa-13-h130-final.pdf).

Learning Objectives: 

After this seminar, participants will be able to:  

• Recognize and interpret requirements under NIST Handbook 130 Uniform Packaging and Labeling Regulations (UPLR)
  
• Explain, demonstrate and apply UPLR to everyday packaging of consumer and non-consumer commodities.
  
• Determine the appropriate method of sale for a product
  
• Explain the package requirements that must be met under NIST HB133 "Checking the Net Contents of Packaged Goods"

Materials & Supplies: 

Participants will be provided with a notebook and a USB memory stick that contains course materials. 

Prerequisite(s): 

There are no prerequisites for this seminar.  

Minimum Requirement(s): 

Successful Completion includes full attendance and active participation in all in-class activities.  Participants will be assessed on their application of all learning objectives for this course.  Participants who do not fulfill these requirements will not receive a certificate of completion.  

Audience: 

State weights and measures officials.
