These self-verification SRMs are used by those who wish to have a lower cost option (compared with SRM's 2092, 2096, and 2098) to verify the performance of their impact machines according to the requirements of ASTM Standard E23. The verification is usually repeated yearly.
No post-test evaluations are provided for these SRMs. The certified value of the SRMs are provided on the certificate received with the specimens. The specimens are tested by the user, and the machine is evaluated by the user. The broken specimens are not returned to NIST and NIST provides no post-test letter verifying the performance of the machines.
