Xinyi Liu is a fifth-year Ph.D. student in Engineering Sciences and Applied Mathematics at Northwestern University. Xinyi’s research focuses on the physical and mechanical aspects of esophageal tissue growth, combining mathematical modeling with clinical insights. As she progresses in her Ph.D., Xinyi explores ways to contribute to fields of mathematical biology and medical sciences by providing theoretical insights that enhance the understanding of clinical observations. When not in the lab working with simulations, Xinyi can be found playing the flute in an ensemble or bouldering with friends at the gym.
