Samuel L. Manzello is a mechanical engineer in NIST’s Fire Research Division. Sam is fortunate to have conducted thousands of experiments, from floating onboard NASA’s Vomit Comet as part of his Ph.D. thesis on microgravity droplet combustion, to producing soot in combustion reactors to image its nanostructure using transmission electron microscopy, to harnessing the Dragon using large wind tunnels in Japan, just to name a few.
