Konrad Lehnert is a 1993 graduate of Harvey Mudd College. He received a Ph.D. from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1999 and did post-doctoral research at Yale. In 2003 he joined JILA and NIST. He is known for his development of quantum-limited microwave amplifiers and for investigating the quantum physics of micro-mechanical structures. While at Harvey Mudd, Konrad ran track and cross country, and he still holds the school’s record for the slowest time in an official 5K race.
