Amber McCreary is a physicist in the Nanoscale Device Characterization Division at NIST. Her research includes using optical spectroscopy techniques to study magnetism in low-dimensional materials. She received her bachelor’s degree at the University of Pittsburgh in 2011 and her Ph.D. at The Pennsylvania State University in 2017. When she isn’t in the lab or doing outreach activities, she enjoys traveling, hiking, attempting to cook, visiting all the Smithsonians and playing with her pet chinchilla.
