The Gerard Salton Award is presented by ACM SIGIR every three years to a person who has made a significant, sustained, and continuing contribution to research in information retrieval.  It is the highest award given in the field of information retrieval.

Congratulations to Ellen Voorhees on receiving the Gerard Salton Award at the ACM Conference on Research and Development in Information Retrieval (SIGIR).  The Gerard Salton Award is presented every three years to an individual who has made “… significant, sustained and continuing contributions to research in information retrieval” and is the highest honor awarded in the IR community.  This award reflects the enormous impact that NIST’s Text Retrieval Conference (TREC) has had on the IR research community.
