Anne Plant Elected AAAS Fellow

Each year, the AAAS Council elects members whose "efforts on behalf of the advancement of science or its applications are scientifically or socially distinguished." In October 2016, the AAAS Council elected 391 members as fellows of the association, in recognition of their contributions to innovation, education, and scientific leadership. The 2016 AAAS Fellows will be recognized at AAAS' Annual Meeting in Boston Saturday, February 18, 2017.

The AAAS Council is the policymaking body of the association, chaired by the AAAS president and consisting of the members of the board of directors, the retiring section chairs, delegates from each electorate and each regional division, and two delegates from the National Association of Academies of Science. AAAS is an international non-profit organization dedicated to advancing science for the benefit of all people.
