For Marcia's “long-term service as co-chair of the Symposium, creating an event that was welcoming with a positive professional and personal experience for all, and for technical leadership in establishing standards for the transport properties of important fluids.” Dr. Huber first attended the Symposium as an NRC post-doctoral researcher in 1988, and over the years increased her involvement with the Symposium, co-chairing five of the Symposia from 2009 to 2021.
The Symposium on Thermophysical Properties, the leading international conference in the field, is held every three years in Boulder, Colorado. Associated with the Symposium is an award presented to individuals who demonstrate long term and significant service to the Symposium. The first award was given to Dr. William (Mickey) Haynes in 2015 for his significant service to the Symposium, and sub sequentially the award was named in his honor. This year the Symposium Award was presented to Dr. Marcia L. Huber of the NIST Material Measurement Laboratory Applied Chemicals and Materials Division.
