Monique Hunter, Jason Kralj, Stephanie Servetas, and Scott Jackson of the NIST Material Measurement Laboratory Biosystems and Biomaterials Division were recently recognized with an EPA 2024 Scientific and Technological Achievement Award (STAA) for their development of the EPA Recreational Water Quality Standard (SRM 2917). SRM2917 enabled the adoption of genetic technologies for water quality testing that can provide same day notification of fecal pollution levels thus advancing the National recreation water testing infrastructure.
