2023 Katharine B Gebbie Young Scientist Award - Alex Grutter

2023 Katherine B Gebbie Young Scientist Award

The Katharine B. Gebbie Young Investigator Award, presented by the NIST chapter of Sigma Xi, honors early career researchers at NIST.  It recognizes challenging, creative, and significant research accepted by an archival journal and performed by a NIST staff member or associate with no more than ten years of professional experience following receipt of their highest degree.  The award is named after Katharine Gebbie who was an essential mentor for the NIST Chapter and was extremely supportive of young scientists across all disciplines at NIST.  She was quick to recognize exceptional research and to make sure that others knew who and what was being done. In appreciation of her service, the NIST Chapter’s Sigma Xi Young Investigator award was changed to the Katharine B. Gebbie Young Investigator award in 2013.
