The annual Governor's Awards for High-Impact Research celebrates the brilliant groundbreaking discoveries and innovative research from Colorado’s ecosystem of federally-funded laboratories and institutions. The team developed accurate tools for measuring concentrations from natural gas emissions occurring at fracking sites or storage facilities, and combined the measurement data with data analytics and efficient dispersion modeling software to detect, quantify and attribution emissions.

The new technology enables reliable, accurate and cost-effective detection and mitigation of renegade methane leakage across the millions of acres of production sites and millions of miles of distribution pipelines that constitute our nation’s vast oil and gas production and distribution infrastructure.
