The Mark Scholar Awards were established in 2006 to recognize excellence in basic or applied research and leadership in polymer science by scientists of all ages. The awards are administered by the POLY division of the ACS. The award is presented biennially at the fall ACS National meeting (even years) during the POLY/PMSE award program. The Herman F. Mark Scholar award is presented to a researcher between the ages of 36 and 49 on January 1 of the year that the award is presented.
Kathryn Beers is being awarded the Mark Scholar Award by the ACS Division of Polymer Chemistry (POLY) in recognition of her excellence in in basic or applied research and leadership in polymer science. She will be honored by a half-day invited symposium at the fall ACS national meeting in Chicago. Additionally, Kate was selected by the ACS Division of Polymer Science and Engineering (PMSE) to be the plenary speaker at the POLY/PMSE awards ceremony at the fall meeting.
