Abstract

We present calculations of the Thomas-Fermi wave functions for two simultaneously trapped and condensed hyperfire states of 87rb which has recently observed [C.J. Myatt,et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. (preprint)]. We show that the suppression of the spin exchange losses due to the mutual repulsion of the two condenstates contributes significantly to their lifetime. We further predict the mean separation of the condenstates both before and after adiabatic expansion.
